At Acer Academy we are committed to Safeguarding the welfare of all our students.
As with all schools we have a pastoral responsibility and are legally obliged to pass on concerns about child welfare to Children’s Services as per the Salford Safeguarding Children's partnership.
These combined Policies: Safeguarding, Child Protection and Safe Recruitment Vetting Policies are in place to protect children and young people on roll at Acer Academy.
Acer Academy is part of the Kings Academy Trust, there are three sites, all based within Salford. Acer Academy is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children who are on our roll. Acer Academy fully recognises the contribution it can make to protect children and support pupils in school and beyond.
All staff have a responsibility to provide a safe environment in which children can learn. All staff are trained in safeguarding procedures and are regularly briefed on any updates or amendments to current legislation
Any staff member who has a concern about a child’s welfare will report these concerns to the Designated safeguarding lead or Deputy safeguarding lead at their specific site.
If anyone has concerns about a child being radicalised it is imperative that this is reported immediately to the DSL/DDSL of the school as per the prevent duty guidance, please see the link for more information on this updated guidance. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/prevent-duty-guidance/prevent-duty-guidance-for-england-and-wales-accessible#Education
Identified Staff will then support social workers and other agencies following any referral to ensure a child or young person's safety and wellbeing.
